ARRAN 20 Year Old The Explorers Series Volume 1 / Brodick Bay

The Arran Distillery is a renowned whiskey distillery located on the Isle of Arran in Scotland. It was established in 1995, making it a relatively young distillery compared to many others in Scotland. Despite its youth, Arran Distillery has gained a reputation for producing high-quality single malt Scotch whiskey. The distillery is situated in the village of Lochranza on the northern coast of the island, surrounded by picturesque scenery. The location is said to provide a unique microclimate that influences the character of the whiskey produced at the distillery.

Released in 2018, this was the first entry in Arran distillery’s The Explorers Series, which replaced previous Smugglers’ Series, a trilogy of annual limited editions which celebrated the island’s illicit whisky history. This new range instead celebrated the island’s natural charms.

This first expression was titled ‘Brodick Bay’, with the label depicting the picturesque bay on Arran’s east coast.  Matured initially in ex-bourbon barrels and ex-sherry hogsheads, Brodick Bay is then finished in Oloroso sherry butts.
