Glendronach whiskies are crafted using traditional production methods, including copper pot stills and floor malting. One of the key defining features of Glendronach is its focus on maturing its whiskies in sherry casks, which results in deep, complex flavours with pronounced notes of dried fruits, spices, and oak. The distillery sources both Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks to create a range of expressions, including non-age-statement releases and age-stated whiskies. The whiskies from Glendronach are often described as full-bodied, rich, and indulgent. They offer a combination of sweetness, spiciness, and a well-rounded palate. Depending on the expression, one can expect flavours such as raisins, dark chocolate, caramel, baking spices, and a pleasant nuttiness.
A 2019 release from Glendronach, Master Vintage is composed of a selection of Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks, all distilled in 1993 – one of the most sought-after and collectable vintages from this popular distillery.
