Established in 1815, Laphroaig has a rich history and continues to uphold traditional production methods. The distillery malts its own barley using locally sourced peat, which imparts the characteristic smoky aroma and flavor associated with Islay whiskies. The malted barley is then fermented and distilled in traditional copper pot stills, resulting in a spirit that captures the essence of Islay’s rugged coastal environment.

One of the key factors contributing to Laphroaig’s unique character is the maturation process. The whiskies are typically aged in a combination of American oak ex-bourbon casks and European oak ex-sherry casks, which add layers of complexity and depth to the final product. The maritime climate of Islay further influences the maturation, as the whiskies absorb the sea air, imparting additional briny and coastal notes.

First release in The Bessie Williamson Story,this special release 25-year-old single malt is the bottled in 2019 and exclusive to travel retail.
