Miyagikyo is a Japanese whisky distillery located in the Miyagi Prefecture of Japan. It is one of the two distilleries owned by Nikka Whisky, a well-respected Japanese whisky producer. Miyagikyo Distillery is known for its elegant and fruity single malt whiskies.

The distillery was established in 1969 by Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka Whisky. Miyagikyo Distillery was strategically chosen due to its location near the Nikkawa River, which provides a suitable water source for whisky production. The region’s climate, with its distinct seasons and moderate temperatures, also influences the character of the whisky.
