TAKETSURU 17 Year Old
Nikka is a prominent Japanese whisky producer known for its exceptional quality and craftsmanship. Founded by Masataka Taketsuru, often referred to as the father of Japanese whisky, Nikka has played a significant role in establishing Japan as a recognized and respected whisky-producing nation.
Masataka Taketsuru studied the art of whisky-making in Scotland and returned to Japan in the early 1920s with a wealth of knowledge and a dream of creating authentic Japanese whisky. In 1934, he established the first Nikka distillery, Yoichi, in Hokkaido, a region reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands with its rugged terrain and cold climate. The second distillery, Miyagikyo, was established in 1969 in the Miyagi Prefecture, offering a different flavour profile.
