West Cork Distillers was established in 2003 by John O’ Connell, Denis McCarthy and Ger McCarthy in Union Hall, West Cork. They started out distilling whiskey, poitin, vodka and gin, and were so successful that they had to open a larger distillery in 2013. Owners of The Pogues whiskey brand, the UK-based Halewood group, were early investors in the distillery but were eventually bought out of their share in 2019 after the Irish government granted its three founders the funds to do so. The distillery bottles its whiskey under the West Cork banner, alongside a large contract-distilling operation which includes the continued provision of The Pogues brand.

This is a blended Irish whiskey, married in bourbon barrels and bottled at cask strength.
