ICHIRO’S MALT Mizunara Wood Reserve

Ichiro’s Malt is a series of Japanese single malt whiskies that gained significant recognition in the whisky world. It was created by Ichiro Akuto, the founder and master distiller of Chichibu Distillery, which is located in Saitama Prefecture, Japan.

The story of Ichiro’s Malt is quite fascinating. It began when Ichiro, the grandson of a sake brewer, acquired the remaining stock of Hanyu Distillery’s whisky casks after the distillery closed in 2000. Hanyu Distillery, established in 1941, was located in Saitama Prefecture and produced whisky until it ceased operations due to financial difficulties.

Ichiro’s Malt MWR Mizunara Wood Reserve Pure Malt Japanese Whisky was crafted by Ichiro Akuto and bottles in 2010. It is a vatting of various single malt whiskys previously aged in Japanese Mizunara oak.
