ARDBEG Heavy Vapours Committee Release

Located on the southern coast of Islay, an island in Scotland. Ardbeg whiskies are known for their intensely smoky and peaty character, which stems from the traditional production methods employed at the distillery. The malt used in Ardbeg’s whiskies is malted with peat, which imparts a distinctive smoky flavour during the drying process. The whiskies often feature complex layers of maritime, briny, and medicinal notes, with hints of citrus and chocolate.

The 2023 Committee Release from Ardbeg has interestingly been distilled without a purifier, this allows the heaviest and untamed vapours to rise up the still during distillation and creates an intense, aromatic and sweet flavour. This unusual process has been brought to life in a graphic novel by artist and illustrator Dilraj Mann.
